PARENT/CARER WORKSHOP: How to prepare for Clearing

It’s a myth that UCAS Clearing is only for university applicants who don’t get their required grades on results day. In 2024, over 60% of people who used Clearing did so through choice. Some were late applicants, some changed their minds about which subject to study, and others ‘traded up’ to another course because they got higher grades than expected. All of this means that it’s highly advisable for all young people considering university to understand Clearing.

The University of Essex are hosting an online workshop for all of our Year 13 students along with their parents and carers to help them understand what Clearing is, how it works, why they might choose to use it, and how they can prepare for results day.

The session will be held in the evening over Zoom to support parents and carers who wish to attend – we know how important their support is to their child on results day so supporting parents and carers in understanding these processes is very important to us.
