Careers Talk – The Construction Industry

On 30th January our Year 9’s had a careers talk from Logan Construction, the company who are building our new Sports Hall. The team from Logans was led by their Managing Director, William Logan. They explained the huge range of jobs available within the industry, from the design stage (architects, surveyors) through to technical (engineers, project managers, site managers), and craftsmen (electricians, plasterers, glaziers) – there are many other roles as well, including accounting, legal, and marketing. The speakers all explained their routes into construction, and how they enjoyed the various challenges they faced each day, and how no two days are the same.

We really appreciated the time and effort Logans put in to delivering this presentation. Hopefully it will have encouraged our Year 9’s to start thinking about possible careers once they leave education, whether their future lies in construction or not.
